Tacpac: Rumble in the Jungle

For anyone who works with PMLD students this is great!

If you work in PMLD you will probably be familiar with Tacpac - but if you are not then you can always visit www.tacpac.co.uk for more info. Or in the link there is a document which has a summary of tacpac. But in a nutshell tacpac is communication through touch and music and you can buy the official tacpac on the website.

Last year for a theme of Africa we studied Rumble in the Jungle for our Literacy topic and as part of this we made our own tacpac to be used along side the audio CD. You can either use it with the first part of the audio CD which has the words read by Hugh Laurie or the second part of the CD which has just the music. Each of the movements is linked in some way to the animal and in the document there is the description.

This tacpac is a handy pac so no additional resources needed. Just press play and your are away!

You can download the Word document here.

Science: Plants and Mini beasts

I have uploaded some PowerPoints I have made which can be downloaded for FREE from the TES website.

The first is a PowerPoint on Planting a seed (which I am going to be using again next half term). It is a step by step guide to planting a seed and had widgit symbol instructions which are accompanied by photographs and you can get it here:
http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Science-Planting-a-Seed-widgit-PowerPoint-6171498/

The other is a mini beasts PowerPoint which is really simple and uses symbols. It includes a chatter mat within it for discussion and has some basic info on where to find mini beasts which is useful when conducting your own mini beast hunt (which kids love!). You can find this one here: http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Science-Minibeasts-PowerPoint-6171499/

Science: Light and Dark

Hi all,

I have uploaded some Science resources to TES the first batch is for the topic of light and dark, may be useful for EYFS but especially so for SEN as it is fully supported with widgit symbols.

I based my Science topic around a book called 'Oscar and the Moth' by  Geoff Waring which was great and I really value learning through stories.
I made a chatter mat to get students talking about the topic of light and dark at the beginning of each lesson which can be downloaded here: http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Science-light-and-dark-Shadows-chatter-mat-6171308/

And the homemade PowerPoint for 'Oscar and the moth' can be downloaded here: http://www.tes.co.uk/teaching-resource/Oscar-and-the-Moth-Powerpoint-Science-Light-6171305/
